1.Being the founder of Sea Shepherd are you ever tempted to stay back in warmer conditions such as other group leaders have done or do you believe you must lead by example ?
PW: I work best in the field.
2.During recent blogs and messages there as been a lot of arguing between Sea Shepherd and Ady Gil & Pete Bethune do you believe this is getting in the way of what really matters ?
PW: No it does not get in the way. It's just annoying.
3.You currently have a group of members in the Japanese town of Taiji, In that group you have to young members named Elora West and Nicole McLachlan how as it effected them being so young ?
PW: They are doing an excellent job and it has been a wonderful educational experience for the two of them.
4.I have been following you current season via your website and through Facebook messages and its has been a great start to a season to you see this as the beginning of the end for the Japanese Whalers ?
PW: I do hope so.
5.Many people call you and your crew terrorists how does this effect yourself and your crew. Does it motivate you or does it anger you?
PW: They can call us anything they like. We are not hurting anyone and we are not breaking any laws. We have not been charged with any violations or crimes. We are an anti-poaching organization and the Japanese whalers are poaching in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.
6.I have recently seen threads from a number of so called Sea Shepherd supporters who have used Racial comments to the Japanese in response to recent activity do you condone this and if not what would you like to say to these people ?
PW: We do not condone racist comments and we have removed numerous people for posting such things. We specifically request that such language not be used in postings. We have Japanese crewmembers on the ships and they report that racist remarks are made against us all the time in Japan.
7.Some people call you a hero and an inspiration for what you have done for the Seals and Whales do you believe that this is justified
PW: I'm not really concerned with what people call me, good or bad.
8.During the last season you received a terrible loss of the Ady Gil how as the replacement ship the gorija faired up?
PW: The Gojira is larger, faster and easier to handle than the Ady Gil so we are quite happy with it.
9.With Taiji being a major part of some peoples campaigns do you see Sea Shepherd doing a TV series like Whale Wars in Taiji to document what happens there ?
PW: No we're not doing a TV show about Taiji. I think the Cove covered Taiji quite well.
10.With having to go to port to refuel mid season do you find that this is a major problem in your campaigns to stop the Japanese ?
PW: No. Only the Steve Irwin needs to refuel. The Bob Barker and the Gojira are still in the Ross Sea.
11.Do you see a new addition to your fleet ?
PW: We're always looking at ways to be more effective.
I would now like to thank you for your time in advance to your reply and I wish you and the crews of The Bob Barker, Steve Irwin and The Gorija the best of luck in your current campaign.
