1.Having such an adventurous voyage with Sea Shepherd last season does and spending time in a Japanese prison has it made you more determined to fight against the slaughter of marine wildlife ?
1)i guess it gave me time to refelct on what is important to me. and marine conservation is at the top of my list. so thay is what i'm dedicating myself to for the forseeable future.
2.After loosing a very elegant boat namely the late Ady Gil / Earthrace how as this effected you and are you going to make a replacement ?
2) losing ady gil broke my heart. it was such an amazing boat, and had been part of my life for many years. but in the end, it is only a boat. and we had 6 blokes so happy to be alive after the ramming. looking back, in some ways the boat was sacrificed. she has served a valauble purpose and good has and is still coming from what happened. I have plans on a new Ady Gil. 150ft long beast. but she will be different to the original. bigger and better.
3.During you time on whale wars your methods were exactly what they said on the tin they were aggressive and to the point will we see more of this from you in your own organization ?
3) my new organisation has in its core a team of ex military people who will undertake covert operations against poachers. there is certainly a hard edge to this team, and I believe we can make some positive contributions to stopping the rampant poaching that happens so much around the globe right now.
4.When you were boarding the Shonan Maru #2 what was going through your mind as you waited for day break to confront the captain and how did they react ?
4) I was really nervous. paul had always said they were hardened security forces on the shonan maru. so i was really worried what they'd do to me. I was also very relieved to have made it on. I knew we had made a little bit of history that day...and i was blessed to be part of a really good team that made it hap[pen. In the end the crew on shonan maru were a bunch of pussies. haha
5.With your new book Whale Warrior hot on the shelves do you expect it make an impact in spreading the awareness worldwide ?
5)yeah the book helps. Many people get it because they see it as an adventure book, but behind that, it is about conservation. so the book allows us to convert many people to caring about our oceans.
6.Having read recent posts and blogs on many websites and Facebook pages there as been a lot of arguing and rumours regarding yourself Mr Ady Gil and the Sea Shepherd Organization how as this effected you?
6) sscs have treated me very poorly. They still owe me $500k for example and are refusing to pay it. paul attacks me at every turn with half truths and outright lies, but i try not to think too much about it. I have my own onganisation to run and i concentrate on that. getting involved in mud slinging with paul does not help either of us. it just makes us look like wankers.
7.Current rumours have it that you are going to be mostly basing yourself in the Faroes do you believe this to be more needing of you skills than for example Taiji ?
7) Faroes is just one of 6 campaigns this year. we have two public campaigns - one on faroes and one in trinidad. the others are all black ops and you won;t hear anything about them. or not until they are complete at least. in terms of time, faroes will be about 3 months so it is a bigger campaign than most i will be involved in. I cannot go to taiji. although i do have a couple of my crew there at the moment.
8.Do you see yourself and your crew approaching governments and members of these towns to stop the slaughter or are you going to be a protest organization ?
8) we will use many tactics. and in some cases, getting in and fighting or being arrogant is not the best solution. so it depends on the situation. If we need to get agressive we will;, but that will only solve some situations. others require a different approach.
9.What are you views on the current racism in recent comments by supports and fellow activists towards the Japanese for example ?
9) the japanese are really nice people. almost without exception. it is sad they still kill whales and dolphins, but that is just a few people. whale meat is eaten by very few people there. i think it is sad to label all japanese as bastards when in fact there are only a few people these who we should target.
10.With Taiji having the well acclaimed movie “ The Cove “ and Sea Shepherd documenting the current struggle in the Southern Ocean with “ Whale Wars “ will we be seeing a documentary series or film on the Faroes ?
10) working on a tv series at the moment. Still trying to sort a network deal and production company. But it looks likely.
11.How do you see Earthrace Conservation will work with other organizations such as Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace in the future ?
11) while paul remains in charge at sscs, it is unlikely he will have anything to do with us. In saying that, I still have many friends in sscs, and in some local things we are working together. so who knows. I've got no problem working with any organisations if there is merit to it.
